FOR INTERVIEW
Nowadays,
job applicants - young and old alike - have lost touch with what
dress is suitable for attending interviews. Often they forget that
although everyday dress may be causual, the interview is a test to
evaluate candidate's professionalism and their seriousness about
the job. In the first ten seconds of meeting a candidate, the
interviewer makes a mental decision on whether you are the right
person for the job. If you are not sure of the proper dress code,
here are some guidelines:-
- Combination
of your Pants'/Shirt's color play an important role in presenting
yourself. The color you choose for your shirt/pants tells what type
of person you are? Know what each color
represents.
- Men!
Carefully select your Pants/Shirt for interview purposes to present
yourself in a professional way.
- Ensure,
clothes you wear for intereview are cleaned, pressed and fit
well.
- Shine
your shoes. Your Shoes should match your shirt/pants/belt or blend
with outfit well.
- Men
- comb hair well. Clean and trim your nails well. Well-fit watch
and one ring work best.
- Women
needs a professional hairstyle & nails evenly and closedly
trimmed.
- Women
should wear simple jewelery that does not distract. Less make up is
better.
- Men
or Women! Some interviewers may be allergic of perfumes. Apply less
as far as possible.
- Carry
a briefcase with your certificates or laptop or leather
notebook.
- Avoid
wearing T-Shirts, Jeans, Slippers, Micro mini-skirts and Night club
clothes.
- Make
sure, your electronic devices like Cellphones do not disturb you
and the interview at the time of interview.
- Your
dress and your image presentation reflects in a positive or
negative way.
JOB
OFFER FRAUDS
During
the last 3 years, recruitment / job offer frauds have gone up. What
job seekers should know 'Modus Operandi' of this?

The fraud mainly targets fresh engineers / graduates and those who
have less experience in their field.

Candidates / job seekers in remote villages are targetted through
internet and SMS.

Fraudsters post meticulous bogus and phishing websites that appear
as genuine and demand money as security deposit for job offers

'Registration Fee' etc.

RECRUITMENT
DISCRIMINATION
During the
process of Recruitment or at Workplace in Public / Private Sectors,
candidates and employees are discriminated for various reasons.
Some basic reasons are here:-
- In some Metro
Cities like Delhi, candidates / employees are subject to
discrimination in selection / promotion & other staff welfare
processes since 90's.
- Second reason for
the candidates rejected for job or employees not promoted is
their qualifications, commensurate with their gender,
age and also caste & religions.
- In case of
females, pregnant women or women with children are denied
jobs.
- Some companies
even ask about marriage decision of employees, which employees do
not like and even leads to de-motivation / low morale.
- Worst of all is
that the Physical Appearance & Beauty are
considered one of the important factors in selection process by
most of the companies.
- Only some
professionally managed companies have clear-cut Personnel Policies
to firmly deal with discrimination issues related Selection of
Candidates & other employee issues.
- The employees of
some Public Sector Undertakings get importance at their workplace
on various issues like Qualification, Age, Gender, Caste,
Religion, Community, Physical Appearance & Family
Background.
- Existing
productive employees in some companies even lose their job only on
the ground of his / her gender nature.
WORK
STRESS MANAGEMENT
Stress
at workplace is nothing but a perception of situation which
determines the experience. Here are some simple tips to overcome
stress:-
- Keep
your communication always open with your superior / boss to let him
know that he is aware of what you are doing and problems you
face.
- Prioritise
your work according to its importance and urgency. If possible,
delegate responsibilities.
- Every
hour, take a break of 5-10 minutes and drink plenty of water
instead of hot / soft drinks. Talk to others or plan your vacations
to enjoy with your family.
- At
a time, focus on a single task. Give importance to building
relationships with superiors / peers / subordinates. You will get
further motivated by your relationship.
- To
maintain good family relationship at home, you should know when to
switch off mobile phones and your laptops.
- To
keep yourself physically healthy, maintain well-balanced diet with
regular meals. Also, minimum of seven hours of
sleep is required to keep yourself fresh and energetic.
Meditation / simple physical excertises will be much
helpful.
PF
/ EPF OF INDIA
Employees
Provident Fund & Miscellaneous Provisions Act (EPF & MP
Act) 1952 is an important piece of labour welfare
legislation enacted by Parliament to
provide social
security benefits to the workers. Some important
provisions of Employees & Miscellaneous Provisions Act
1952 (as on 2012):-
- The Act and
scheme provide for 3 type of benefits (1) EPF (2) Pensionary
Benefit to employees and family members & (3) Insurance
Coverage.
- The members
(workers/employees), who join the company are covered under the
purview of the act has to remit contribution from
his Basic
Salary @12% through their employer & the employer
will contribute the same by diverting 3.67% to
Employees Provident Fund & balance 8.33% to Pension
Fund.
- The employer has
to pay equal contribution along with admn. charges @ 1.10% of the
total salary and inspection charges @0.05%
- Members, who are
drawing basic wages
upto 6500/-, will be covered under Provident Fund by
contributions both by employees/workers and the
employer-company.
- Over and above
basic wages / salary of Rs.6500/-, it is at the discretion of
employer to share their contribution to the member's PF
account though employees/workers will have to contribute their
share to the PF Account.
- The contribution
deducted from members' salary by the employer has to be remitted to
EPF Organisation by 15th of succeeding month for the preceeding
month salary/wages. EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organisation)
will pay interest @
8.25% (as on 2012) for the amount accumulated every
year till it is withdrawn on retirement.
- If the member
dies, while in service, the family of the deceased member will get
the insurance benefit and pension benefits i.e. widow pension and
children pension up
to children's age of 25 years.
- Member can change
his job and work with any number of establishements till the age of
58 years..
- Any member, who
has rendered continuous service of 10
years, will be eligible for pension.
- Full pension will
be payable at the age of 58 years of retirement.
- Reduced pension
is eligible at the age of 50 years by deducting the 4% of the
actual pension payable.
- On member's
death, Widow & Children Pension will be payable.
- Minimum pension
will be payable Rs.450/- to the widower & to the children
Rs.250/-, if the member dies while in service.
- If the pensioner
dies, widow is eligible to receive the pension and no children
pension will be payable. 2 children will be eligible for children's
pension up to the age of 25. If children get married before 25
years of age, no
pension will be payable to them.
- Maximum pension
of Rs.2500/- will be payable to pensioner.
- Insurance will
not be payable to the family member if the member dies after leaving the
service.
- If employer fails
to remit the contribution, deducted in members salary will land in
trouble and settlement cannot be made to the member/pensioner
easily.
- If the employer
fails to remit the contribution by 15th of every month, penal
damages will be initiated against the employer.
